A playpen indoors or in the yard
The same pen works in the kitchen and on the lawn. What changes is what goes under it and over it.

Indoors
Put the floor pad down first: it protects wood, tile and rugs from spilled water and puppy accidents. Place the pen away from radiators and cables, with the bed at one end and water at the other.
Outdoors
Pin the panels with the ground stakes so the pen cannot be pushed across the grass. A roof gives shade on hot days, and the raised bed keeps the dog off damp or hot ground.
On the road
The foldable pen folds flat into a car boot; the raised bed comes apart without tools — both travel well to campsites and family visits.
Room to play, room to rest.
